Passport to Nature: Saving the Night Caller Documentary – April 22nd!

Sustainable Orillia invites you to join us in celebrating our incredible planet. This year’s event, to be held in partnership with Couchiching Conservancy and with support from Lakehead University, aims to engage, inform, inspire and empower. With the recognition of earth’s life-sustaining gifts must come the awareness of our responsibility to protect and repair our global home.

Earth Day 2026 is expected to attract more than one billion participants across 190+ countries, all joining together to promote environmental awareness and action. The day highlights the urgent need to address climate change, reduce waste, protect biodiversity, and advance sustainable practices.

4:00–6:00 PM Activities
– community-partner booths featuring ecofriendly products and services   
– educational Indigenous Garden tour 
–  herbplanter workshop for patio gardening
–  children’s seed planting table
–  vegetable-seed giveaway station
– plant-based diet recipes and resources
– complimentary refreshments

6:00–8:00 PM Documentary and Discussion
Saving the Night Caller; followed by a conversation on local conservation and community action led by Mark Bisset, former Executive Director of the Couchiching Conservancy. The participation of several area organizations and businesses will draw attention to the potential benefits of fostering connections in our local society, with all working towards a more sustainably functioning community.
