There’s no vaccine for climate change. It needs all of us working together!
The Couchiching Conservancy’s Dorthea Hangaard, Jane Bonsteel and Lisa Neville met together with members of Sustainable Orillia’s Agriculture and Natural Environment Sector to explore ways to support and supplement efforts to protect Sundial Creek. North Orillia is lucky to have a rare cold water stream supporting Brook Trout in its midst, but it is gradually declining in health due to urbanization.
The project predates Sustainable Orillia, yet it provided a collaborative opportunity for the two organizations. The group believes there’s a way for residents and the stream to co-exist, and called on all nearby residents to pitch in and restore Sundial Creek back to health.

The Orillia & District Arts Council’s Christine Hagar reached out to Sustainable Orillia to consider opportunities for the arts community to contribute to making Orillia more sustainable for future generations.
During the conversation, an idea emerged whereby artists will receive incentives to create sustainability-inspired works (visual art, songs, poetry, etc.) to be featured on Sustainable Orillia digital platforms and in local media.
