Sustainable Orillia (SO) held its 3rd Annual General Meeting of members on Sunday afternoon, April 2nd. As an incorporated, not-for-profit entity the organization is required to conduct an annual general meeting, plus produce an annual report for its members. This year’s meeting was held virtually. In attendance were members of the Board of Directors, several Sector Leads and a number of current members. A quorum was present and Secretary Gord Ball chaired the meeting, which took about forty-five minutes to complete the agenda.
Of interest were the Chairman’s remarks, the election of the Board of Directors, recommended by-law changes and the Treasurer’s reports on both the 2022 financial statements and the 2023 budget. Stan Mathewson, Sustainable Orillia’s Chair & President provided a fulsome overview of SO’s 2022 accomplishments and priorities for the year to come. Fred Larsen, SO’s Treasurer tabled the 2022 financial statements and 2023 budget – both of which were approved. Director, Bruce Waite presented the recommended by-law changes for consideration by members present. All of which were approved.
Vice President, Danny Epstein tabled the recommendations of the Nominations Committee and received approval to renew the terms of four incumbent directors (Mathewson, Larsen, Laperle and Epstein), plus the appointment of Michael Jones as a Director, for a term of 3 years. Sustainable Orillia has 9 board positions, plus an ex officio director, David Campbell, our Council representative.
