Simcoe North Unites to Protect the Greenbelt

Unfortunately Mr. Ford’s government has decided NOT to listen to the majority of people across Ontario, who have concerns and have spoken out against the passing of Bill 23 and it was passed earlier this week. That being said, Sustainable Orillia will join with our counterpart organizations and other concerned citizens to protest the opening up of any development in the Greenbelt. All Orillia and Orillia-area residents are encouraged to join this protest rally – being held outside Jill Dunlop’s Orillia office (575 West St. S, Unit 9) this coming Friday, December 2nd from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.

There is a simultaneous rally planned for Ms. Dunlop’s office in Midland (320 King Street, Midland) if that’s more convenient… and following both rallies, groups plan to travel to the MPP’s office in Coldwater (corner of Coldwater Road and Michael Anne Dr) for resumption of the rally outside her office from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m.

It’s critical to make our voices heard on this matter and to continue to argue against implementation of Bill 23. If we don’t, we can expect more of the same in the two, three years remaining in this government’s mandate. Experience and research have proven that the most effective way to do this is to protest and petition individual members .. so if you are unable to join us on Friday, December 2nd… then please write or call your Provincial MPP, in our case Ms. Dunlop and express your concerns.
