It’s National Pollinator Week – June 19 – 25.

Hats off to the Township of Severn for highlighting the importance of our ‘pollinator’ partners in the attached proclamation – signed by Severn Mayor, Mike Burkett.   Mayor Burkett will officially make the proclamation on Friday, June 23rd, 10:00 a.m. in Wasaga Park.  The next day, Orillia’s Mayor Don McIsaac will join Sustainable Orillia’s Matt Thompson and Morgan’s Monarch’s dynamic founder,  Gavy Morgan at Orillia’s Public Library for a presentation,  at 10:00 a.m.

National Pollinator Week is an annual event celebrated internationally in support of pollinator health. Pollinator Week is an annual event celebrated in the third week of June. It is a time to recognize and celebrate the importance of pollinators and their role in our food supply and ecosystems. Thanks to our City Leaders for lending their support to this important event and we hope many citizens of both Orillia and Severn will drop by to learn more about the key role pollinators play in our ecological balance and in our very survival.   As some wise person once said,  ‘without bees – there’s no us’!
