SUSTAINABLE ORILLIA’S 5th ANNUAL ALL-ELECTRIC VEHICLE WEEKEND

COMING TO A ROLLER RINK NEAR YOU SOON!!

A ‘roller-rink’ and electric vehicle have more in common than you may think – as ‘active’ transit, like roller-skating and electric vehicles are both emission-free ways of getting around. It may be a bit of a stretch, but a roller-skating rink could well be the ideal venue for this year’s ‘All-Electric Vehicle Weekend’ and we, at Sustainable Orillia are always happy to highlight emission-free alternatives.

On August 5th or 6th, or both days, we hope you will join us at the ODAS Park Roller Rink for the 5th Annual All-Electric Vehicle Weekend – hosted by Sustainable Orillia. It’s a no-pressure, family-friendly environment to learn more about the full range of electric vehicles available in our region. From cars, to boats, to bikes – even snow blowers and lawn mowers; there will be experts on hand to walk you through the benefits of electrifying you ride.

Electrification across all vehicles and machines is moving rapidly from the margin to mainstream and for good reason. There’s an awakening across all categories that emission-free vehicles are the way of the future. More and more consumers are planning and making the switch – as more and more options, greater affordability and yes, accessible infrastructure comes onto the market. This appears to be the right time to explore, consider and plan for your own step into an emissions-free ride.

This is the 5th year in a row that Sustainable Orillia is presenting the all-Electric Vehicle Weekend. The event is free and promises to be bigger and more comprehensive this year – thanks in large part to our sponsors, led by Orillia Kia, Super E-Bikes, Raymond James, Green Storage and CIBC.

Plug’n Drive will be back on-site, offering attendees the chance to test drive an electric vehicle. And with a wide range of car dealers on hand, there will be plenty of options. Dealers on-site will include Orillia Kia, Subaru of Orillia, Orillia Volkswagen, Thor Motors (Ford), HWY 11 Chrysler, Tesla, VinFast Auto Canada and Orillia Mazda.

If you are interested in marine vehicles, MPS MPW Enterprises and Create Your Wave, both from the Muskoka, will be there. If you are in the market for a bicycle, an e-bike or scooter, Super E-Bikes, Orillia Power Sports and Orillia Motor Sports will be important booths to visit. For those looking to sustainably maintain their lawns, Kubota North will be presenting its line of electric lawn appliances and more. Something for everyone!

This year’s displays and demonstrations are designed to raise awareness of zero and low-emission transportation and the event directly supports ‘Big Move #2 – Transportation’ from the City of Orillia’s climate action plan, Orillia’s Climate Future.

The event has been expanded this year to include vendors and expertise in related areas – such as Orser Technical Services, who will be on-site to discuss solar panels and power walls. Another new member to our on-site team, is Electrical Elite Inc who will be there to provide advice on the logistics of charging your new EV at home. Undor will be present and is looking forward to sharing information on their creative routing solutions for charging cables and Napoleon, will be on-hand to showcase and answer questions on their heat pump line. New this year will be a silent auction for a number of items which will close at 3 pm on Sunday August 6.   Definitely, something for everyone!

In closing, the all-Electric Vehicle Weekend is a comprehensive, diverse and not to be missed opportunity for all of us to explore our own ‘electrifying’ options. Come, see, learn and test a wide range of electric vehicles. Watch for more information in the weeks ahead and join us August 5th and 6th to learn first-hand about the latest developments in sustainable transportation technology from the experts on-hand.

See you at the ‘Rink’ … we look forward to greeting you there.
